Extension for Work

A student in my writing class aksed me for an extension. “I had to work extra hours this week at my job,” he explained.

Concerned that work might be interfering with his studies, I asked if the job was really necessary.

“Yes, sir,” he replied. “I have to pay for my car.”

“Do you really need a car?” I asked.

“Oh, yes,” he countered. “I need my car to get to work.”
